Quando você conhece uma pessoa rara, é difícil de entender porque você decidiu classificá-la assim. Quando você conhece Eleny, é claro como um cristal, e vou explicar por quê. Ela é uma pessoa que sempre pensa num futuro melhor, enquanto mantém o presente feliz e gostoso para a família, amigos e todos em volta. Com uma mente incrivelmente >inteligente e uma visão indescritível, "ela sempre parece estar certa" (quem a conhece sabe o que quero dizer com isto). Ela decidiu mudar para os Estados Unidos em 1988 enquanto outros brasileiros achavam que ela era louca. Já faz 16 anos que moramos nos EUA e a maioria das pessoas que a julgaram louca agora moram lá ou estão tentando mudar
>para lá. Além disso, ela é uma mãe carinhosa, divertida, e amorosa para todos nós. Ela nos ensina sua sabedoria, visão e humor toda chance que tem. Sua sede de vida é inspiradora e sua força vibrante é encorajadora. Eu, como filha, descreveria minha mãe de muitos jeitos, mas meu enorme orgulho por ela é aparente toda vez que a vejo. Eu compartilho uma união com ela que desejo para todas as mães e filhas. Mãe, eu te amo e vou sempre te agradecer por lutar para ficar aqui conosco.

When you meet a rare individual, it is difficult to know why you characterize him or her as a rare individual. When you meet Eleny, it is crystal clear, and I will tell you why. She is a person who always thinks about a better future, but maintains a pleasurable and happy present for her family, friends and anyone else who is around her. With an incredibly intelligent mind and a vision that is indescribable, “she always seems to be right” (those who know her, know exactly what I mean). She decided to move to the USA in 1988 when other Brazilians though she was crazy. It has been 16 years since we have lived in the US and most of those people, who thought she was crazy, now live there too or are trying to move there. In addition, she is a warm, fun and loving mother to us all. She teaches us her knowledge, vision and sense of humor every chance she gets. Her thirst for life is inspiring and her vibrant strength is encouraging. I, as her daughter would like to describe my mom in a lot of others ways, however my enormous pride for her shows it all every time I look at her. I share a bond with her that
I wish for all mothers and daughters. I love you mom and I will always thank you for fighting to stay here with us.

Minha mãe não é difícil de descrever. Todo mundo que a conhece, não importa se por cinco minutos ou 30 anos, sabe que ela não tem a mínima vergonha nem falta de assunto pra nada. Conversa sobre qualquer coisa, com qualquer pessoa, de qualquer idade, com uma facilidade espantosa, e às vezes até sem falar o idioma! Quem a conhece há anos lembra da Eleny festeira, anfitriã, as portas sempre abertas aos amigos para qualquer ocasião. Quem a conhece a menos tempo sabe do relacionamento especial que ela tem com os idosos onde trabalhava, e da luta para manter a família unida, mesmo morando longe. Sua sede de aprendizagem, amor pela família, respeito pela vida, e espírito indomável são contagiantes e me inspiram até hoje.

My Mom is not hard to describe. Everyone she meets, it doesn't matter whether for 5 minutes or 30 years, knows she has no shame nor lack of subject for conversation. She can talk about anything, with anyone, of any age, with astonishing ease, and sometimes without even speaking the language! People who have known her for years will remember Eleny the party hostess, her doors always open to her friends for any occasion.
People who have come to know her recently certainly know about the special relationship she has with the older residents at her recent workplace, and of her efforts to keep her family united, despite living far apart. Her thirst for knowledge, love for family, respect for life, and indomitable spirit are contagious and have inspired me my whole life.

Dês do primeiro momento que eu conheci a Eleny foi óbvio que ela é uma pessoa extremamente especial. As pessoas raramente tem a chance de conhecer uma pessoa que chega perto do calibre dela. Eu fui o fortunato recipiente do tempo de Eleny. A Eleny o dirá ela mesmo que a coisa mais importante que uma pessoa possa dar a alguém é o seu próprio tempo. É algo que quando dado, nunca pode ser devolvido. Um exemplo que a Eleny dá sobre este assunto é se você fazer um bolo para alguém, você tem dado um tempo precioso da sua vida para fazer outros felizes. Enquanto muitas pessoas têm tido a oportunidade de conhecer a Eleny, que seja por sómente um momento, eu tenho tido uma imensa alegria de ter compartilhado uma grade parte da vida dela comigo. Entre muitas outras coisas, ela é inteligente, intuitiva, bonita, não-tão-séria, espiritual, criativa, extremamente dócil e carinhosa. Eleny é o meu amor, minha vida.

From the first moment I met Eleny it was obvious that she is an extremely special person. People rarely get a chance to meet someone who even comes close to Eleny’s caliber. I have been the fortune recipient of Eleny’s time. Eleny will tell you herself that the most important thing in life that you can give someone is their time. It is something that once it is given, it can never be returned. One example Eleny gives regarding this is that if you bake a cake for someone, you have given precious time from your life to make others happy. While many people have had the opportunity to meet Eleny, even if only for a moment, I myself have had the immense joy of having Eleny share a big part of her life with me. Among many other things, Eleny is intelligent, humorous, intuitive, beautiful, serious, not-so-serious, spiritual, creative, extremely sweet, and caring. Eleny is my love, my life.

A primeira vez que conheci Eleny, ela orgulhosamente me disse que o nome dela significa "a luz." Eu fiquei fascinado em aprender sobre a forte crença que ela tem de um anjo da guarda que a acompanha. A sua personalidade, anjo da guarda e alegria pela vida fazem com que este milagre que estamos presenciando seja menos supreendente. A Eleny é uma mãe amorosa, cheia de paixão por sua família. Uma das pessoas mais fortes que já conhecí, (e ela continua a provar isso a cada dia), Eleny Nicolini.

The first time I met Eleny she proudly told me that her name means "the light". I was fascinated to learn of her compelling belief of a guardian angel that watches over her. Her stoic personality, guardian angel and overall joy for life make this miracle we are all witnessing expected and less surprising. Eleny is a loving mother full of compassion for her family. One of the strongest individuals who I have ever met, (as she continues to prove this each day) Eleny Nicolini.
